Don't worry, there's hope for your dog! We happily offer help with common (and not-so common) behavior issues like aggression toward people, dogs, and other animals, separation anxiety, over-excitement, resource-guarding, and fearfulness. Our behavior consultant has over forty years of experience professionally working with dogs and is one of less than 25 CCPDT® (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers®) Certified Canine Behavior Consultants (CCBC) in all of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.

The behavior modification process investigates why your dog responds the way he or she does, as well as what happens just before they react. When we know what triggers your dog's behavior and why, we can intervene and work to change the underlying cause of his or her response. We'll help you understand why your dog is exhibiting the behavior in question and provide tips and techniques to manage the environment. Most importantly, we'll guide and coach you through the process of modifying your dog's behavior so you can get back to enjoying life your dog, rather than managing him or her. We emphasize the "why" behind our training exercises and techniques to teach you how to read your dog and understand how he or she thinks!

Our program begins with a 2-hour meeting to evaluate your situation, gather background information, assess your dog's issues, and discuss your goals. The evaluation session is followed-up with a customized summary that includes recommendations and your dog's plan. Once the plan is in place, the real work begins!
Behavior modification sessions are one hour long and take place in your home, neighborhood, and/or other locations that may be useful (e.g., outside the dog park or in pet friendly stores, the park, etc.).
